Retro Style Cocktail Dress for Vintage Cissy Doll
Greetings!
A newly created fashion for your vintage Cissy doll. I often search and admire mid-century fashions and styles. I came across an elegant black and white mid-century cocktail dress I thought would be great for Cissy. A photo of the original dress that inspired this creation for Cissy is pictured, see last photo (#10)! So I went about making a pattern of it for Cissy. The result is this lovely dress! It has a black velvet sleeveless bodice, lined with black taffeta, it closes in back with 4 square black snaps accented with pearl buttons. It has a flowing skirt made with semi-sheer white crepe georgette. (The skirt is about 75” around) . It has an attached black grosgrain waistband, and boxy style bow with long streamers. Comes with a detachable slip that has a waistband and snaps in back. Also comes with a choker/necklace. It has one large round rhinestone setting with double pearl strands, it closes in back with a magnetic closure (with my old fingers I find these easier to close in tight spaces like with chokers and bracelets).
The skirt ended up a tad snug on the waist due to the bulk of gathering the skirt. I made the slip so it sits under the waist of dress. When dressing the doll leave the back open to put on slip, snap it, then close the dress pushing slip down a bit just below the dress waistline.
(This would make a pretty holiday fashion, I am hoping to get it made with a red velvet bodice and green velvet bodice)
